You’re in for a wild time! The animals are visiting to teach us about wildlife conservation.
Meet and learn about a variety of fascinating animals such as a Redtail Boa, a Sulcata or Redfoot Tortoise, a Blue-Tongue Skink, an African Giant Millipede, a Tenrec, a ferret, or a hedgehog. Tanee Janusz, founder and operator of Nature on the Geaux, will provide interesting facts about each animal's habitat, behavior, diet, and unique characteristics. For 25 years, Tanee has been an environmental educator and skilled animal keeper. Through her stories about animal care, children will understand why taking care of the environment is important.
Participants can observe the creatures up close and even touch some of them at the end of the show.

Our Gonzales location was built in 1980 under the direction of Earline Decoteau, Director and serves as our Main Library location. It was expanded & renovated in 1996, 1998, and 2011, under the direction of Angelle Deshautelles, Director.
