Relive the wonder and fun of the New Orleans World’s Fair from 40 years ago. Registration required.
Do you remember when the world came to New Orleans to see the Louisiana World Exposition, better known as the 1984 World’s Fair? It was a momentous event in New Orleans’ history and the last World’s Fair held in the United States. The Louisiana State Archives is celebrating the fair’s 40th anniversary with an exhibition in its Louisiana Gallery, viewable through December 13, featuring artifacts, photographs, and videos that capture the spirit and commemorate the legacy of this remarkable event.
Catherine Pearson-Puma, archives specialist and exhibits curator with the state archives, will lead a presentation at the library looking back at this exciting time. Memorabilia and artifacts from the state archives collection will be available for viewing.
