Have you been touched by a cancer diagnosis? Get in on the action, join mindful chair yoga sessions and improve your overall well-being. Registration required.
In partnership with Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, the Ascension Parish Library will offer mindful chair yoga sessions for cancer survivors and caregivers with the goal of helping them live a full and meaningful life during and after cancer treatment.
Yoga is a total mind-body workout that combines strengthening and stretching poses with deep breathing and meditation or relaxation. The mindful chair yoga classes are designed to improve strength, balance, and promote mindfulness. They will help with cancer-related fatigue, sleep improvement, and reduction in stress and anxiety.
Classes will be led by certified yoga instructor, Jada Kerek. The sessions will be held on Thursdays, beginning February 6, at 11:30am in Gonzales. Attendees are welcome to bring yoga mats if preferred. Click to register or call 225-647-3955.
Our Gonzales location was built in 1980 under the direction of Earline Decoteau, Director and serves as our Main Library location. It was expanded & renovated in 1996, 1998, and 2011, under the direction of Angelle Deshautelles, Director.
