Bouncin’ on the Bayou and Brer Rabbit Too

Storyteller Mama SaBa will entertainingly interact in telling tales of the South – and Brer Rabbit too!

Mama SaBa is known for her captivating storytelling that will engage and enchant the audience with interactive wordplay, song and dance. In her performance of Bouncin’ on the Bayou and Brer Rabbit Too, the audience will of course hear of the famous rabbit, and two other stories from her repertoire which include A Big Fat Yam Tale, Fried Fish and Then Some, Junior Turtle, Gators on the Bayou, Snakes are Really Sneaky, and Not Too Scary Tales.

Phyllis D. Jason is a lifelong Louisiana resident fondly known as “Mama SaBa” who has entertained children for more than 30 years. She earned the name “Mama SaBa,” meaning “mother of seven,” in Swahili, after the birth of her seventh child. Through her tales, she takes kids on a character-filled journey and invites them to get involved through song and dance. Join in on Saturday, March 8, 2:00 pm at the Gonzales branch and on Saturday, March 15, 10:00am at the Dutchtown branch.
