April is Jazz Appreciation Month, and you’re invited to take a trip through time with the East Ascension Jazz Legionnaires in their Big Band Time Machine. Under the direction of Charles J. Lee, III, the band (made up of a remarkable group of high school students) will play jazz hits from the past 100 years, teaching you all about the importance of this genre of music.
Charles J. Lee III is the band director at East Ascension High School. He has a degree in music education from Louisiana Tech University and a master's from Tarleton State University. Lee also oversees the Mariachi Espartanos, Louisiana’s first-ever high school mariachi band.

Gonzales
Our Gonzales location was built in 1980 under the direction of Earline Decoteau, Director and serves as our Main Library location. It was expanded & renovated in 1996, 1998, and 2011, under the direction of Angelle Deshautelles, Director.
