Hear tales of the South from a Louisiana storyteller!
Through wordplay, song, and dance, Mama Saba tells stories that will engage and captivate young audiences. In her performance of Bouncin’ on the Bayou and Brer Rabbit Too, the audience will, of course, hear about the famous rabbit and listen to two other stories from her repertoire, which include A Big Fat Yam Tale, Fried Fish and Then Some, Junior Turtle, Gators on the Bayou, Snakes are Really Sneaky, and Not Too Scary Tales.
Phyllis D. Jason is a lifelong Louisiana resident fondly known as Mama SaBa who has entertained children for more than 30 years. She earned the name Mama SaBa, meaning “mother of seven,” in Swahili, after the birth of her seventh child. Through her tales, she takes kids on a character-filled journey and invites them to get involved through song and dance.
