Be cool as a cucumber and learn ways to grow and make healthy recipes from your own garden plants.
Dig into something fun and healthy! Join us for a hands-on gardening experience where you’ll learn how to grow your own food, make tasty recipes, and take home your very own planted cucumber seeds. Ascension Parish Master Gardener Ora Jones will talk to us about techniques for vertical gardening and caring for vine plants, so they grow fruits and veggies. You’ll also learn some simple recipes – like a healthy cucumber dip and homemade pickles. Before you leave, you’ll plant some cucumber seeds to take home and use your new knowledge to help your plant grow. Feeling like you want to grow more? Ask what seeds are available in our Seed Library and take home more things to try and grow.
Ora Jones has grown and donated fresh fruits and vegetables to local food banks. She is the founder of Mrs Oras Kountry Garden.
