Learn about and see live axolotls, the mascot of our Amigos Time.
We’re so excited for you to meet some real axolotl ambassadors! Often called Mexico’s “water dragons,” axolotls are amazing amphibians, but these unique creatures are also endangered in the wild, which makes learning about them more important than ever. You’ll learn fun facts about axolotls, their wild counterparts, and the dangers they face. Environmental educator and animal expert Tanee Janusz from Nature on the Geaux will introduce us to real axolotl animal ambassadors and share what makes them so special. Thinking about having an axolotl as a pet? We’ll also talk about what it takes to be a responsible axolotl keeper and how to care for these fascinating animals.
