Join us at the library in Gonzales for fun-filled stories about Louisiana’s food culture with Poppy Tooker, author, food personality, and radio host. Poppy, a New Orleans native, is passionate about Louisiana food and the people who bring it to the table. She brings all of these elements together in her weekly NPR affiliated radio show, Louisiana Eats! Poppy also provides restaurant commentary on the PBS show, Steppin’ Out, seen on WYES TV weekly. With her motto, “Eat It To Save It,” Poppy has been instrumental in reviving many endangered local foods and food traditions. Her on-camera flair has been on national television alongside celebrities including Bobby Flay, Andrew Zimmern, Jeff Corwin, Mo Rocca, and Wynton Marsalis.
A book signing featuring several of her titles including Louisiana Eats, Madame Begue’s Creole Recipes of Old New Orleans Creole Cookery, Tujague’s Restaurant Cookbook, and Pascal’s Manale Cookbook will follow the presentation.
