We’re welcoming the Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre’s Youth Ballet back to perform!
Set to the timeless music of Leo Delibes, Coppélia is a comic story ballet set hundreds of years ago in a festive Hungarian village. Follow the antics of Swanilda and Franz, two young lovebirds, who quarrel over the beautiful maiden in the window of the local toymaker’s shop. Havoc ensues as Swanilda and her friends sneak into Dr. Coppelius’ toy shop to discover life-size, dancing toys, and the truth about the girl in the window.
Youth Ballet is one of Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre’s outreach programs that allows young dancers to improve their technique and develop performance skills. Youth Ballet is made of dancers, ages 10-14, who are chosen each spring in city-wide auditions. While inspiring passion and excitement for dance, the tour is performed in settings where many audience members have little chance to attend a live performance.
