Guardians, Harbingers, and Sentinels describes the theme of this collection of fiber works created by the Contemporary Fiber Artists of Louisiana (CFAL). Guardians and sentinels defend and watch over us in a protective role while harbingers predict or announce new activity, methods, or directions. Fiber art is created with fabric, wool, thread, and other fiber materials. This exhibition is the artists’ third in a series of exhibits designed to travel to libraries throughout Louisiana showcasing the creative work of modern fiber artists.
CFAL members practice a wide variety of disciplines, including art quilts, embroidery, weaving, digital fiber arts, crochet and knitting, rug hooking, doll making and structural fiber arts with 3D construction, jewelry with fiber elements, beading, and general surface design and embellishment.
