Take a cosmic journey through the night sky! See the landscape of the Moon, get a close-up view of Jupiter and Venus, and even Orion’s Sword. Amateur astronomer Don Weinell, with Baton Rouge Astronomical Society (BRAS), will help you search the night sky with a high-powered telescope. Library staff will also help guide your eyes.

Our Gonzales location was built in 1980 under the direction of Earline Decoteau, Director and serves as our Main Library location. It was expanded & renovated in 1996, 1998, and 2011, under the direction of Angelle Deshautelles, Director.
