Kickstart your creativity in the library’s new makerspace when you learn to use all the new tools. Registration required.
Ascension Parish Library’s makerspace is a place for inventors, artists, and hobbyists to bring their ideas to life. Located at the library in Donaldsonville, we encourage community members to check out this new hands-on workspace and collaborate, create, explore, and build.
To use equipment in the makerspace, you must be an Ascension Parish Library cardholder* and take a badging class to learn how to safely operate the machines and the procedures for checking in, out, and cleaning up. After taking the class, you will schedule a time to pass a task-based activity to earn a completion badge, which allows you to use the equipment on your own.
In the Recording Studio, a patron can record podcasts or music. The studio is equipped with mics, mixers, a guitar, a bass guitar, a drum set, a keyboard, a green screen, lighting, and two high-quality cameras.
To attend this badging class, click the button to register or call (225) 473-8052.
*Cardholders who are ages 12 to 14 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian when using the makerspace. Those who are 15 and older may use the space on their own.
