Discover the cool (and hot!) side of science! Registration required.
This interactive family event will explore how different substances react to create dramatic changes in temperature.
Participants will see two demonstrations. We’ll mimic weather patterns using warm and cold air to form a cloud in a jar and then see the power of air pressure with a vacuum packing experiment. After the demos, you’ll do a hands-on experiment and mix everyday ingredients to produce a gas that inflates a balloon. You’ll also do the popular elephant toothpaste experiment — a foamy, fast-moving reaction that’s as colorful as it is fun!
