Explore art, stories, and self-expression in a creative journey inspired by artist and author Faith Ringgold. Registration required.
Take flight through art and imagination with Faith Ringgold and create artwork inspired by the celebrated artist and author. Participants will begin with a short presentation introducing Faith Ringgold’s life, art, and one of her famous story quilts, Tar Beach—a powerful piece that blends storytelling, history, and personal dreams.
Afterward, tweens will design their own mixed media art project inspired by Tar Beach, combining drawing, collage, and fabric to express an autobiographical concept of their own. This hands-on workshop encourages creativity, self-expression, and cultural appreciation, while introducing young artists to an influential figure in American art.
All materials will be provided. Come learn, imagine, and create your own story!
