Create a Koinobori kite like the ones that fly in Japan.
Koinobori means carp-shaped streamer in Japanese. They are flown on flag poles from April to early May to celebrate Children’s Day on May 5. The carp is a fish that persistently swims upstream and symbolizes courage, strength, and persistence - traits that Japanese parents wish for their children. In this packet, you’ll create your version of a Koinobori kite using tissue paper and a craft tube to learn about this tradition.
