Learn about archaeology in Louisiana and ongoing research into the state’s past.
October is Louisiana Archaeology Month, an exciting time to learn more about archaeology and the history of our state. Louisiana has countless archaeological sites, including American Indian mounds, historic villages, shipwrecks, plantations, cemeteries, and more. Through these sites, we can learn and examine human history and culture.
Karla Oesch, Collections Manager with the Office of Cultural Development’s Louisiana Division of Archaeology, will speak about projects across our state and some of the discoveries and technology used by archaeologists.
This program is part of a statewide series, in conjunction with the Louisiana Division of Archaeology’s annual celebration of Archaeology Month.
