Ascension Parish Library in Gonzales hosts a six-week reading and discussion series on the historical perspectives of Russia and Ukraine. This series offers the reading public an opportunity to examine this long and turbulent relationship between the two nations.
Dr. Karl Roider, Alumni Professor Emeritus of Louisiana State University, will lead six sessions with open discussions supported by the text, Bloodlands: Europe Between Hitler and Stalin by Timothy Snyder. Bloodlands is an authoritative and imaginative book which tells the grim story of the greatest human demographic tragedy in European history with exemplary clarity.
The series, Russia and Ukraine: Historical Perspective, meets Tuesdays starting May 7 and concluding on June 11 at 6:00pm. Participation in the series is limited. Readers who are interested in committing to the six-week series must register in advance. Registration is now closed.
