From Anansi to John Henry celebrates folktales, tall tales, and oral traditions for grades pre-K through 5. Taking the role of the trickster, Anansi is one of the most important characters in West African, African American, and West Indian folklore. John Henry is an American folk hero about the freedman who was said to have worked as a ‘steel-driving man.’ Other tales in the show come from the celebrated Gullah Tales and oral traditions that have created a beautiful fabric of memorable characters and valuable lessons.
