Mama SaBa will share African Folk Tales through repetition, singing, and dancing. You’ll hear about African tribes from A to Z in the African Alphabet and traditional stories of Anansi the Spider. Mama SaBa will also share an extra story like The Determined Ant, How the Lion Got His Roar, or The Forgetful Elephant.
Phyllis D. Jason is a lifelong Louisiana resident fondly known as “Mama SaBa” who has entertained children for more than 30 years. She earned the name “Mama SaBa,” meaning “mother of seven,” in Swahili, after the birth of her seventh child. Through her tales, she takes kids on a character-filled journey and invites them to get involved through song and dance.
Our Donaldsonville location was built in 1980 under the direction of Earline Decoteau, Director. It is located in historic downtown Donaldsonville.
