Poetry springs hilariously to life as soon as shadow puppets hit the screen!
Here’s an entertaining way to inspire kids to read and write poems – use puppets! Drawing from his years as a middle school teacher, Matt Sandbank, a nationally touring shadow puppeteer based in Durham, NC, presents kids six and older with a fresh and exciting way to look at making abstract literary concepts more concrete. Sandbank’s A Wild Goose Chase is a series of shadow puppetry vignettes designed to teach the key elements of poetry in an engaging and interactive way. Each skit focuses on a different element or literary device, often involving audience input or participation.
This show is designed for children ages 6 and up, but all ages are welcome to attend.
