Learn about archaeology in Louisiana and ongoing research into the state’s past.
Louisiana has countless archaeological sites, including American Indian mounds, historic villages, shipwrecks, plantations, cemeteries, and more. We can learn about human history and examine material culture through these sites. Maegan Smith, Education and Outreach Coordinator with the Office of Cultural Development’s Louisiana Division of Archaeology will speak about what has been found in our backyard.
Our Galvez location was built in 1992 under the direction of Angelle Deshautelles, Director. It was expanded & renovated in 2018.
