Have you been touched by a cancer diagnosis? Join mindful chair yoga sessions and improve your overall well-being. Registration is required.
In partnership with Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, Ascension Parish Library offers mindful chair yoga sessions for cancer survivors and caregivers, with the goal of helping them live full and meaningful lives during and after cancer treatment.
Yoga is a total mind-body workout that combines strengthening and stretching poses with deep breathing and meditation or relaxation. The mindful chair yoga classes are designed to improve strength, balance, and promote mindfulness. They will help with cancer-related fatigue, sleep improvement, and reduction in stress and anxiety. Classes will be led by certified yoga instructor Jada Kerek. Attendees are welcome to bring yoga mats if preferred. Click the button to register or call 225-647-3955.
Our Gonzales location was built in 1980 under the direction of Earline Decoteau, Director and serves as our Main Library location. It was expanded & renovated in 1996, 1998, and 2011, under the direction of Angelle Deshautelles, Director.
