Diwali is a vibrant cultural festival celebrated in late fall, known for lighting up homes and public spaces with diyas (small clay oil lamps), fireworks, and beautiful decorations. Families clean and decorate their homes, create colorful rangoli designs from sand or powder, wear new clothes, share sweets, and exchange gifts over five joyful days of celebration.
Join us to learn more about this beautiful tradition! Enjoy a taste of traditional Indian sweets and make your own paper versions of mehndi — the intricate henna designs often seen on hands and feet during Indian festivities. Also, create your own rangoli with colored sand on cardboard or decorate a diya to take home as part of understanding this cultural event. Register online here or call (225) 647-3955.
