Did you know there’s a local sanctuary providing habitat for wildlife species in our community? Register to hear about it.
The 36-acre Amite River Wildlife Sanctuary, located between Prairieville and Port Vincent, provides habitat for birds, butterflies, and other wildlife species. Jane Patterson, president of Baton Rouge Audubon Society, who has been key in making the sanctuary a reality, will cover the history on how it all happened and what is in store for this special piece of cypress-tupelo swamp. This presentation will also cover which native plants can be used to attract birds.
This workshop is part of an educational series on gardening and landscaping for novice and advanced gardeners in partnership with the Ascension Parish Master Gardeners Association (under the direction of the LSU AgCenter).
