Join the global tradition honoring resilience, luck, and lasting happiness. Spread a little sunshine this summer and grow a sunflower! While supplies last.
From Vincent van Gogh’s 1888 painting to the winner’s bouquets at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, sunflowers can be found almost everywhere in the world. This summer, you’re invited to celebrate this global icon by growing your own sunflower. Beginning Thursday, June 1, pick up a special seed at any library location and plant it in your garden. Be sure to chart your flower’s growth and share pictures of your progress with us on Facebook and Instagram with the tag @myAPLibrary! Prizes will be awarded in early August for the gardeners with the tallest flower and the flower with the largest surface diameter. While supplies last.
